Music reunites alumni
Band reunion concert to be held Saturday
Seeing an old friend after a vast amount of time generates a feeling that cannot be defined simply by words. On Saturday, April 9, band alumni from as early as the 1970’s will be expressing these emotions through music in the Stuver Auditorium at 7 p.m.
The concert was completely arranged by band alumni with the cooperation of the school. Rick McGee, a band alumnus from the class of 1976, is the main organizer of the event.
Assistant principal Teresa Wells, a band alumna from the class of 1979, along with many other band graduates are helping to put on the concert.
“The band program represents one of the most winning programs of the school,” Wells said. “We built lasting friendships with our peers and it is good to get together and be reminded of the long maroon line of pride and tradition we helped build.”
The current band director, Marty Courtney, has assisted in the organization process and sees the value in having the reunion concert.
“I think it’s a great thing, a great opportunity,” Courtney said. “We spend so much time together while we’re here and make such close friends and then we each go our separate ways, and I think it’s a great opportunity for those folks to connect.”
