Friendly competition against classes
Juniors to face seniors in powder puff game tonight
The powder puff football game started with a friendly competition between Lewisville and Marcus about 15 years ago, and is now keeping up the tradition between the junior and senior girls.
The game will be hosted by StuCo on Wednesday, April 27 at 7 p.m. and is open for anyone in the community to come watch.
“It’s just really a fun event especially for the juniors to go against the seniors just because of that competitiveness in the classes,” senior StuCo community service officer Megan Fritz said. “It’s a really fun thing for the community to be involved in as well because they can go watch their daughters play, and for the coaches to go and cheer them on.”
With a cost of 3 dollars per person to get in and the money made from from the T-shirt sales, the funds will go to student activities for next year.
“We used to give it to a women’s charity, but then it got to where we had so many expenses for homecoming we had to build our account again,” StuCo adviser Allison Stamey said.
The football players teach the girls three weeks in advance about the rules, how to play and they set up the guidelines.
“Games are always more intense than practice,” senior offensive lineman Denzel Okafor said. “It’s just a lot of fun seeing everyone’s hard work pay off.”
