Q: What is it like to be a cheerleader?
A: “It’s really fun. [I’m] always active and doing something every week. We are always fundraising, and when we aren’t, we are all together cheering. The cheer team is my second family.”
Q: What do you plan on doing after high school?
A: “I plan on going to the University of New Mexico. I want to cheer for their college cheer team and major in art. I [chose] New Mexico because their cheer team [interests] me.”
Q: What’s different about this year than last year?
A: “I’m more focused on my school work and getting stuff done for college. For junior year, I didn’t really realize I had one year left so this year I’m soaking in every moment.”
Q: What’s it like to be part of a nationally-ranked cheer team?
A: “It’s really cool, actually. I always get questioned ‘How does it feel to win nationals?’ It’s really great and a cool experience.”
Q: What’s your least favorite part of cheering?
A: “Making sure you have good stamina and making the smallest energy last throughout a big cheer routine.”
Q: What’s your favorite part about this year?
A: “Having first period off. People prefer senior first off to sleep, but I never sleep in so I have time to think in the morning and I can get work done or grab a coffee to go.”
Q: What’s your goal to accomplish before 2017 ends?
A: “I want to get out of my bubble and meet new people. I’m wanting to try new things, go to places in Dallas I’ve never been with friends and make memories.”
