Q: What made you join Farmerettes?
A: “When I saw the Farmerettes, I saw it as a challenge and an opportunity to show my talent. I thought that I wouldn’t dance like them. JJ joined JV and that gave me boost to try. When I made Farmerettes everyone was super excited for me.”
Q: What experience do you have in dance?
A: “I’ve been dancing for eight years and teach in a studio. My church had a dance team. I would always go to see them, [and] then when I turned 10 years old I joined. Now I teach kids the basic techniques and make choreography.”
Q: Who is the most supportive of you when it comes to dancing? How do they support you?
A: “My mom [and] some of my friends came to the shows. My mom knows I’m trying to make a difference in the school. She keeps me on my feet all the time; same with friends.”
Q: Were there any people who did not support you being a Farmerette and/or dancing? If so, how did you handle the situation?
A: “My dad. He thinks guys aren’t supposed to be dancing and that there is only one dance style. [So] I introduced him to hip hop [and] he likes when I dance to it.”
Q: How does it feel to be the only male on Farmerettes this year?
A: “Being the only guy in Farmerettes, it’s pretty exciting. It gets pretty lonely though, because there is no other guy to talk to except the cheer guys.”
Q: What would you tell other males who are scared to join Farmerettes or show their passion in dance?
A: “I would tell them to try out, see how it goes. [At the] same time you learn a lot of stuff and you make friends.”
Q: Do you plan on continuing being a Farmerette in your senior year? If so, what do you look forward to the most as a senior?
A: “I want to be a captain for my senior year. I’m hoping to make a change in this school. I also want guys to join drill team too and people can look at me as inspiration.”
Q: What has been your favorite experience in Farmerettes so far?
A: “My favorite experience in Farmerettes was in spring show. We performed our competition dances which I loved so much, then knowing that I made Farmerettes, it’s really exciting.”
Q: What are you most looking forward to this year in Farmerettes?
A: “This year I’m looking forward to being in every dance and working hard.”
