ZOOMING IN
Q: What’s your favorite band memory and why?
A: “My favorite band memory is probably the blackout pep rally because we were all together and it was a really fun moment to spend with each other.”
Q: Why did you decide to join the band?
A: “I really enjoy playing my instrument and the band just feels like home.”
Q: What instrument do you play and why did you choose that instrument?
A: “I play the B-flat clarinet. I play that instrument because that’s the one that was given to me in sixth grade. I was originally supposed to play the flute, but my band director thought the clarinet would be a better fit for me and that was the beginning of the story.”
Q: How has the band helped you grow?
A: “Band has helped me grow socially, and it has definitely given me self confidence since we always have to be performing in front of a lot of people.”
Q: What are some obstacles you have faced in band?
A: “I have struggled with learning the spots and choreography for marching performances. It’s definitely a lot of hard work.”
Q: What is something you would tell a future band member?
A: “Enjoy the little moments. If there’s an obstacle, just take a deep breath and go through it bit by bit and day by day.”
Q: Who has been your biggest supporter and why?
A: “My dad, for sure, because he supports anything I do. He comes to all of my concerts, all the games and he’s always telling me he’s proud of me.”
Q: What are you looking forward to this year in the band?
A: “I’m just looking forward to succeeding with everyone as a group. I’m also looking forward to all the competitions and the memories we will make.”
Q: How did your passion for music begin?
A: “It began back in sixth grade. I wanted to try something different; I wanted to learn something new. I took a risk and ended up liking it.”
