In honor of all the Spider-Man movies re-releasing in theaters starting April 15 through June 3, students and teachers were asked about their favorite older superhero movies.
My favorite older Superhero movie would have to be The Amazing Spider-Man from 2012, with Andrew Garfield. I really think they did a good job capturing the essence of Spider-Man and the cinematography of the movie just wowed me for the time. I think Andrew Garfield was a great Spider-Man and he was really funny.”
— senior Leala Moore
My favorite movie would have to be the very first Spider-Man movie. [Tobey Maguire] is just the best Spider-Man. It’s my favorite because it opened the pathway for all the other movies to come out.”
— junior Gissel Valdez
My favorite is the first Avengers movie. I like when they all meet up for the first time. I really like all the tension it creates between everyone and how they fight as a group in the end. My favorite character in that movie is Iron Man, he’s really funny and he carries the whole movie.”
— sophomore Brianna Rodriguez
I like Iron Man, that was such a great introduction to the character and Robert Downey Jr., especially while he was going through some hard times. That movie alone showed that people deserve second chances, even if you hit rock bottom you can make an impact. That movie taught me some themes that you can use in your everyday life.”
— senior Isaiah Hicks
My favorite older superhero movie is Logan, the X-Men: Wolverine spinoff. It’s a really mature take on superheroes, which is what the world needs. There is so much emphasis on superhero movies for kids, but adults are just kids at heart. I think the movie was rated R, because of themes of loss and regret, which are things adults deal with. Plus the Wolverine actor, Hugh Jackman, is a global treasure and deserves all the recognition for it.”
— english teacher Blake Hollowell
I love The Amazing Spider-Man 2, with Andrew Garfield. I mean it’s Andrew Garfield, I’m obsessed with him. That movie has my favorite villains too.”
— junior Kaitlyn Greathouse
I like Spider-Man 2, it was good for its time and people still rewatch it today. It’s still really good, even compared to the newer ones. I like it more than the other Spider-Man movies Tobey Mcguire did.”
— senior Hayden Kyta
It’d have to be Iron Man, it’s the coolest. He’s pretty cool, he flies, he’s got money. I really like the aesthetic of that movie and how it kind of played into how the comics depicted him. I like how he tried to follow his father’s footsteps, but ended up rising above what his father did.”
— senior David Rangel
The first Superman movie. I was a little kid when I saw that, and as a little kid, that was just so cool, he looked like he was actually flying. I didn’t understand some of that stuff at the time, but it’s a great story.”
