Q: What college will you attend? What is your intended major and why that major?
A: “Texas Tech University for nursing. I’ve always loved my nurses. They’ve always been the best people, they’re super kind and they care. The doctors make the diagnosis, but they’re not always with their patients. I want that face-to-face contact.”
Q: What extracurriculars have you been involved in throughout high school?
A: “I did competitive dance for my first two years and then all four years I’ve been in Farmerettes, StuCo, NHS, Interact, HOSA, Kindness Club and Presidents Club.”
Q: What was the most challenging aspect about balancing extracurriculars and academics?
A: “Finding the time. When you’re in so much, you have to split your time while also keeping your priorities straight.”
Q: What class was the most challenging for you? Why?
A: “Pre-cal. I love that class with my whole heart. I love Mrs. Chiles. She’s an amazing teacher, but I had to work, and I’m not used to having to work in math.”
Q: Who has helped you the most throughout these last four years? How have they helped you?
A: “My friends, they’ve been my rock and they’ve always been there. A lot of them are on drill team, and they’re just like my sisters.”
Q: What has been the most memorable part of high school?
A: “The silly memories we make, like the dumb stuff in the locker room or when we sing ‘Love Story’ after a game that we’ve won. We always eat lunch in our directors’ office; it’s 20 girls just in there cracking up.”
Q: What advice would you give to your freshman self?
A: “It’s OK to have fun and go out to do things. You don’t always have to be in the top 10.”
Q: What are you most excited about regarding college?
A: “I’m excited for a new start, to get to know new people, join a sorority, make those friendships and branch out.”
Q: Where do you hope to see yourself in 10 years?
A: “I would love it if I could be married by then. I would have graduated with my doctorate, and it would be my first year working. Maybe kids in the next couple years after that.”
Q: What would you change about your high school experience?
A: “I’d let myself have more fun, let loose a little bit and go to more events.”
