ZOOMING IN
Q: What was your first concert and how did it make you want to go to more concerts?
A: “My first concert was Tony22, who was an animator and YouTube creator, I went to his concert in 2023. It was so fun seeing someone who I grew up watching on the stage. I had a VIP concert so I was able to talk to him, take photos and even have a preview of his earlier music. It made me want to experience the euphoric feeling of more concerts.”
Q: What was your favorite concert from a certain band/artist?
A: “So far, it’s been ATEEZ, I was more experienced in the attire, what to bring and generally had a good time. The crowd was very engaging and I was off my seat from the moment I entered. Their stage presence never made me look away, even trying to record was a mess due to me jumping too much. They play more loud music so you were never bored, the people were incredibly nice as well. They gave out freebies, complimented your outfits and talked about biases. Overall, so far the best [concert] based on [experience].”
Q: How do you dress for certain concerts? What styles do you preferably wear?
A: “The way I style my outfits is based on how I feel or how I want to go. For example, for IVE’s concert I wore black since it was my first K-Pop concert, but for ATEEZ, everyone was wearing black and I had already worn black so I wanted to go cute. I wore more pastels than dark themed colors. For an upcoming concert for Stray Kids, I’ve planned an outfit that matches my Bias’ attire from their comeback a year ago. I always change what I wear, I try not to wear the same style, except for cute–that’s always welcomed.”
Q: What are some tips you would give to someone who is going to their first concert?
A: “Some tips that have helped me in my concert experiences is to bring deodorant. I know you’re having fun but girl, let your arms down and put some deodorant on. Bring a portable charger as well, your phone might be at 100% but just trust me, bring the charger for any case. Makeup is another good thing for touch ups if you want to take pictures with your friends or if you’re lucky, the artist. You want to look your best for the day you’ve been waiting months for. You might be nervous and jumping around can cause you to vomit, so eat carefully but fill up your belly. As a woman, you never know if it’s that time of the month so always be sure to bring pads, tampons, whatever you need so you do not have an accident occur.”
Q: Any upcoming concerts that you are attending and if so, who are the artists?
A: “The first week of June, I will be attending the Stray Kids concert day one and two. During August, I will be attending d4vd’s concert with some friends, which I’m very excited about.”
Q: How has going to concerts made you feel about crowds/large bodies of people?
A: “I have very bad anxiety, especially with people. But these concerts make me forget about the crowds that are smushed next to me, singing along, having fun, not overthinking – it really makes it worth it for all of 3-6 hours. It connects you to the crowd you’re with because you have similar interests with them. So there’s no reason to be anxious, relax and go crazy.”Q: What are you looking forward to seeing in your future concerts?
A: “To enhance my concert experience, I hope to go with more friends. That opportunity to do so would enhance it to be a night to never forget. Every time I fight for tickets for me, family, or friends, I try my best to get the best available option. I hope that in the future, that continues and eventually I reach the end goal.”
