Romeo, Romeo…what are you doing Romeo?

What not to do on Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is Saturday and our staff got together to give you a little advice when it comes to celebrating with your significant other.

GUYS (from the girls)

1: Don’t forget Valentine’s Day – Forgetting Valentine’s Day shows us that you don’t care. All we want is for you to show us how you appreciate us. It doesn’t always require a big gesture; we just want to be wooed.

2: Don’t spend less that $5 on chocolate unless a spending amount is decided upon beforehand – While Valentine’s Day seems like a made-up holiday, it’s a day to show us how much you care and to make us feel special, so put some effort into it.

3: Don’t back out on a date plan – Dates throughout the year are nice, but this is ONE day out of 365. The least you can do is plan a special date night and follow through with it.

4: Don’t break up with the other person – Valentine’s is the day of love. We don’t want to be broken up with because that leads to crying and sadness and then every Valentine’s day will be a cruel reminder of what you did to us that day. Give us one day a year to be happy, that’s all we ask.

5: Don’t do something loving for anyone other than a girlfriend or family member – Even if you have a girl best friend, they are a FRIEND, not your GIRLfriend. No matter how close you are to them, give us this one day of the year to not be jealous of them. You can buy them something, but nothing in a loving way because you are in a relationship with us, not them.

GIRLS (from the guys)

1: Don’t have more than one Valentine – It’s a special someONE, not special someONES.

2: Don’t cause too much drama – Drama is unattractive, and one of the reasons guys can’t wait for 2/15.

3: Don’t wear sweats, dress up – This one day a year we have to plan every last detail. If you’re planning on just standing there, at least look pretty.

4: Don’t expect expensive gifts – We’re in high school; we work at McDonalds. Minimum wage is $7.25.

5: Don’t play mind games; be honest – Guessing games only have us choosing what we think is best. Be clear with what you want, or get ready for baseball tickets and tube socks.
