There are few crime shows on tv that have lasted for over a decade, with only a small number even reaching the five-season mark. However, for the past decade Bones has been entertaining the world with the first episode of the crime show’s eleventh season airing last Thursday, much to viewers delight.

The episode, the Loyalty in the Lie, was an hour of nail-biting action and it left the 6.2 million viewers on the edge of their seats. It did end, however, on the most groan-worthy three words any show can say: To Be Continued.

With FBI agent Seeley Booth in serious trouble with the government, Dr. Temperance Brennan being clueless as to where he is and what appears to be a serious heist underway, this was not the right move to make avid show viewers happy.

With that being said, it was almost necessary. This is gearing up to be an action-packed season but it may have been too much to cram such an intense plot into only an hour. Most season openers feature lighter plots, so dropping us right in the heart of the action without proper time would have left no set up for the rest of the season.

Aside from the super intense plot, this episode features the highly anticipated appearance of Booth and Brennan’s second child together, Hank, a beautiful baby boy. Arastoo also appears to be gearing up to take the place of Brennan as the head forensic anthropologist at the Jeffersonian Institute, after she left to have Hank and raise him at home. The episode featured a halfway proposal from Arastoo, to Camille Saroyan, head of the forensic department at the Jeffersonian.

There’s also an obligation to mention that Jack Hodgins and Angela Montenegro are still together and very much in love, so no drama there (yet).

This episode brought viewers back to the heart of the show, a mixture of drama and crime all rolled into one. The season is gearing up to be action packed and full of many surprises, so be ready to see a lot of drama (and secrets) unfold.
