Making their third appearance in the school auditorium, Vocal Majority will perform in support of the varsity men, women and mixed choirs.

The performance will be on March 19 at 7 p.m. Tickets are available for $11 at farmerchoir.com or from any choir student. All proceeds go to support the choir program.

“The Vocal Majority’s mission statement includes support of music education in schools,” choir teacher Steven DeCrow said. “They are waving their usual performance fee and doing a full concert as a benefit to the LHS choir program.”

Vocal Majority is a group of more than 100 men who volunteer with varying degrees of musical talent and sing all types of music. Throughout the years they have released more than two-dozen albums and a Christmas DVD.

“They are like our role models,” junior choir member Reid Cox said. “We do some of their songs and we try to sound like them. Mr. DeCrow teaches as he knows from them and they really influence us.”

The vision of Vocal Majority was to create a chapter that would become the finest singing group in the world.

“They have won more international competitions than any other group of its kind,” DeCrow said. “They are total professionals and put on a highly entertaining and artistic show.”

Many of the choir students enjoy watching their performances.

“A lot of those people in Vocal Majority used to be in this choir and I look up to most of them that are there,” senior choir member Christian Mayfield said. “They are really good.”

Students are really looking forward to seeing Vocal Majority return.

“They are the best men ensemble on earth,” senior choir member Mitchell Oliver said. “I think very highly of them; I wouldn’t be in choir if it wasn’t for them.”
