Review: ‘Kendall and Kylie’ entertains
Though it slows phone speed, game is still worth the download
As if the Kardashian-Jenner family needed another way to make money, two Jenner siblings have created their own mobile game similar to their older sister’s, Kim Kardashian.
The game officially released in February but recently became very popular, and is simply named “Kendall and Kylie.” It doesn’t cost anything and it is a time management adventure game. In order to progress your adventure, it requires real time; missions can last anywhere from two to eight hours.
You are able to create and choose your character’s hair, makeup, outfit and accessories while exploring a life of fashion and fame. Kendall and Kylie become your friends and assist you throughout the game on the path to success through internet fame.
There are only a few problems with the game, one being that at times you earn “K-Gems,” which are special currency you can buy items with that you aren’t able to with regular in-game money. The items you are able to purchase with K-Gems cost at least 250 gems and even beyond that, which isn’t easy to obtain. To download the game takes more than 100MB of space, and it causes phones to run extremely and annoyingly slow. There are also a few bugs which causes the game to close down by itself. Other than that, it’s a great game especially if you enjoy fashion or even just want to pass time.
The game is directed towards a teenage audience and has an Instagram type of style; you are able to take pictures of yourself as your character, add stickers, text, choose different facial expressions, and post it on your feed. After each mission you complete, you take a photo that you are able to caption however you wish to.
Throughout the game, Kendall and Kylie Jenner send you videos of themselves congratulating you for completing certain tasks. This feature of the game adds another element that many games don’t have. It gives a very personal feel that you don’t get often, especially coming from celebrities.
Although people might end up deleting the game because it causes the iPhone to run as slow as an iPhone 3, if you don’t mind the lag or have an abundance of phone storage to spare, you should at least give the game a shot. Those who enjoy different types of styles and a bit of celebrity drama should definitely try it out.
