Editor’s Note: Staff recommends is a series where each staffer will suggest certain things that we think our audience will like. Each ‘recommends’ will be written by a different staffer and will symbolize that staffer’s personality.

Glass Animals:

The band for your creative mind

Glass Animals is a band I first discovered when browsing for new music. The music is Indie pop and is music to my ears. Formed in 2012 the band has produced two EPs, two albums and nine singles.

ANTHONY’S TIP: Listen to “Life Itself” if you want to “be a superstar.” This song is about not living up to expectations from parents.

The YouTube education:

No cost, more equipment

YouTube is the best way to teach yourself something new. You can learn film, photography, crafting, etc. I learned how to improve my photography after watching many YouTube videos and I plan to do the same for film. Learning from videos gives the advantage of being able to buy more equipment because college costs too much. The downside though is that you miss out on classroom experience.

ANTHONY’S TIP: Watch channels that are enjoyable so you can have fun learning. Kaiman Wong is a YouTuber who reviews cameras and teaches photography. He jokes around a lot but gets the job done.

Christopher Nolan:

The director all about suspense

Christopher Nolan films are outstanding. No wonder he is one of the highest paid directors. His movies tend to have a lot of suspense. I’ve watched most of his movies and was satisfied after watching each one. Interstellar follows the life of a farmer who goes into space to save the human race.

ANTHONY’S TIP: Watch “Following” by Christopher Nolan on YouTube. The story is about a guy who follows people for entertainment but eventually follows the wrong person. It provides a lot of hope if you have a low budget. With only a six thousand dollar budget, it made $240,495 at the box office.

Canon 50mm 1.4 lens:

The lens for the semi beginner

No matter if you are a night or a day shooter, the 1.4 lens gets the job done. The depth of field is truly amazing, but the images start to show a slight vignetting the closer you get to the 1.4 aperture. It is OK though, you can always fix it on Photoshop. The lenses are currently priced at $329.00.

ANTHONY’S TIP: Always buy equipment ranked between beginner and pro. Never buy expensive equipment if you don’t know how to use it.

Crooked Tree Coffee House:

Best coffee house in Dallas

Crooked Tree Coffee is currently my favorite place to indulge coffee. It is located in Uptown Dallas and has an incredibly relaxing environment. If you love coffee, you should definitely take the short trip to visit.

ANTHONY’S TIP: Try out the Cinnamon roll. They are delicious treats for your taste buds.
