My list is not based on the quality of the movie or which one has the best storyline because I believe they are all unique and offer something different which make them stand out to me. However they are all perfect to watch during this lovely holiday of love because of how captivating the characters’ chemistry is and the dazzling visuals.
A dreamy, dialogue driven film about two strangers falling in love during a single night in Vienna. What truly makes it special and appealing is poetry and philosophy. Their connection from the first time they gaze at each other to the moment they part ways, grasp the viewer into their world. It is the perfect film to spark romance, whether you are alone or with someone special.
A timeless story of family, passion and ambition. Jo’s love for literature and women’s rights and potential adds layers to the romantic narrative. It portrays more than just love – it shows how the fact that people love each other shouldn’t be the only reason why they should be together. The cinematography is so powerful it really makes the person behind the scene wonder if they are actually watching a movie or experiencing “little women.”
A classical love story about patience, commitment and destiny that remains a favorite for its heart-wrenching portrayal of enduring love. “The Notebook” is timeless and is appreciated to those who believe if two people are meant together, they will always end up together. Both the female lead and male lead fought for each other’s love. The other main thing that makes it deserve the third spot is how sincere the actors portrayed the characters and how powerful the storyline is.
Most people know the book written by Fitzgerald, the film is also a classic. I think it’s one of the rare movies that do justice to the book. The storyline is so rich, as it captures the watcher in New York back in the ‘90s. The music, fashion and soundtrack was just beautiful. The story stares at different topics, but the main one is how people only care about what’s on the surface rather than what’s beneath it. The plot is so poignant and just makes you think for a moment.
A modern musical about dreams, love and the choices we make. It’s a movie that is impossible to forget. Personally, whenever I hear “city of stars,” it just takes me back to the first time I watched it. I believe this movie makes you think about how far you will go for love. The lightning, the soundtrack, the environment — every little detail was relevant and made it captivating.
A fantastic, heartwarming love story wrapped in an imaginative whimsical world. A perfect Ghibli choice for a cozy Valentine’s Day movie night, “Howl’s Moving Castle” should be considered a classic and a must watch. Its vibes match all holidays yet I think it should feel different on Valentine’s Day.
A beautifully poignant exploration of love that’s influenced by timing, circumstances and the passage of time. It shows how love can endure in different forms – not what you’d expect at the end, but it portrays “right person, wrong time” in a perfect setting. I add it in this list because of how realistic and the way it can resonate with everyone. From being childhood friends to strangers, the two main leads still found a way to find each other again. Although they lived from different continents, they still found time for each other and managed to talk every day. And through the movie, we just learn how time changes everything.
A charming and fun romantic with a bubbly vibe. It’s lighthearted, funny and still portrays a warm, sweet romance. From trying to hurt each other and pretending to be someone that they are not, they still manage to fall in love with each other. However, the final plot isn’t what makes this movie delightful; it’s the whole journey and watching them slowly enjoying each other’s company.
A coming-of-age story that captures the innocence and bittersweet nature of teenage love yet the ending also portrays grief and how deep love can be. The overall vibe is warm and retro, making the audience watching feel nostalgic. It portrays the life of a Korean high schooler and her friend falling in love. The ending was really emotional, but the whole film makes the viewer feel all sorts of emotions.
A movie story about love, loss and the struggle to rebuild a relationship after a tragedy. Underrated and deeply emotional, it offers a reminder of the power of love to heal. This movie captivates how powerful two soul connections are and that no matter what happens, they will always find each other.
