Actor and singer Jeff Goldblum released a new album called “Still blooming”on April 25. This album is a jazzy collaboration with Wicked stars Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Scarlett Johansson and singer Maiya Sykes. Also partnering up once again with The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra.
The first song on the album is called “I Don’t Know Why ( I just do).” A cover song with opening vocals from Ariana Grande creating a smooth and jazzy tune. Her tone and playfulness to the lyrics set a vibrant tone to the album, complementing well with The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra.
The second song “The Grease Patrol” and the fourth song “Blue Minor” sound like spunky instrumental jazz. These songs are original compositions, highlighting The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra’s fine arrangements of their instruments sound, down to the piano, drums and saxophone.
The third song “We’ll Meet Again” Cythia Erivo takes a classic song and makes it her own. Filling each vocal with emotion, Cynthia’s powerful vocals deliver a beautiful performance.
Scarlett Johansson sings a cover for the fifth song “The Best Is Yet To Come” originally by Frank Sinatra, setting a classic jazz and mysterious vibe to the album, pairing with the smooth accompaniment.
The sixth song “Bye-Ya” and eighth song “Bouncing With Bud” is an original composition that is fast-paced and energetic. The instrumental jazz is a lively tune that makes audiences want to dance.
The ninth song “Ev’ry Time We Say Goodbye” sung by Jeff Goldblum is a cover song that has a smooth jazz vibe mixed with his personal vocals and accompanied once again by The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra.
Overall this album deserves a 9.8 out of 10. The smoothness of the instruments made this album quite enjoyable. It was so relaxing to hear but I would say some of the songs were a little long. The way he was able to unite artists with different styles of singing together was beautiful. Each song has a unique interpretation of jazz-incorporating classic elements with modern details.
