Finals are almost here, but don’t worry. There’s still time to get organized and feel confident going in. With a little planning and focus, you can stay on track and finish strong. Here are eight tips that can help you do your best on your exams.
- Make a study schedule
Create a daily study plan. Try to break your subjects into smaller parts and give yourself enough time to review each one. A schedule helps you stay on track and avoid trying to cram everything at the last minute. - Focus on difficult subjects
Start with the subjects you find hardest. This gives you more time to ask for help and focus on the subjects you’ll have the most trouble on. - Practice with past exams
Use old tests or sample questions. This will help you be prepared for similar questions that you could see on your tests. - Take breaks
Don’t try to study for hours without stopping. Short breaks help your brain rest so you can stay focused longer. Short breaks will also help you to retain the information you’re reviewing because you’re letting your brain digest the information it’s seeing. - Stay organized
Keep your notes, supplies and study space neat. When everything is in order, it’s easier to study and less stressful- helping you maximize your time in the most effective way possible. - Get plenty of sleep
Sleep helps your brain remember what you’ve learned. Try to get seven to eight hours of rest each night, especially the night before your test. - Manage stress
It’s normal to feel nervous, especially before an exam, but try to stay calm. Take deep breaths, stretch, or even go for a walk to relax. Taking care of yourself helps you do your best. - Video reviews Watching some videos on what you’re reviewing from an expert in that subject will further your understanding, give you some visual context on the content and often clarify ideas that may be hard to grasp through reading text alone.
