Cry-bullying corrupts consciousness
Over sensitivity and irrational thinking weaken humanity
Trigger warning!
To those easily offended, now’s the time to leave.
Cry-bullies and social justice warriors.
That’s what they’re called; the people who seek to be offended by any and every situation. They purposefully harass and intimidate anyone who does not share their absurd beliefs, while boasting their ‘guilty until proven innocent’ mentality.
Their behavior contradicts the western philosophy of law and order, preferring to spread mass chaos before ever taking a moment to analyze their situations. With unrestrained freedom and nobody to properly check them, they scour the internet while surrounded by mass media circuits and everyday people.
Disillusionment is their motto, unable to comprehend anything outside of their limited world views. As keyboard warriors and passionate protesters both on and offline, they are the modern minutemen, always ready at a moments notice to strike down outlying opinions.
The characteristics of cry-bullies are not limited to a single race, gender or age, as all are equal contenders in the world of social justice warriors. Nor do they lie alongside particular political party lines, although they are commonly portrayed by the media solely as liberals.
When it comes to politics though, the cry-bullies are starkly divided among ‘political correctness’ or the lack thereof; most infamously the term for ‘PC’ culture was coined to describe the universal ‘appeasement of all’ attitude held by extreme liberals. Although, now radical conservatives attempt to act in a polarizing manner in an effort to provoke their political counterparts.
The mass media plays a vital role in continuing this malicious cycle, with the likes of FOX NEWS and CNN each praising their contenders and encompassing them in a filtered-world of like-minded individuals. Thanks to social media and its marketing tactics, the general public is unknowingly subjected to endless news cycles that only feed their ignorance; starkly growing the divide between the two major political parties even more.
Most recently Facebook came under fire for partially influencing the outcome of the 2016 election, after it was discovered there were thousands of fake news stories spreading across its platform and targeting millions of users. Fake news is indeed a vital issue, but it has been exploited and become a cliché by president Donald Trump and his supporters. Trump is now the most well-known individual cry-bully, publicly labeling anything somewhat truthful that hurts his agenda as ‘Fake News.’
Twitter, Trump’s favorite social media platform, is the epicenter of cry-bullies galore and their ignorance; tweeting anything about societal behaviors or disclosing politics is ground for character assassination. When Twitter users are eager to end a person’s career, they use the hashtag #thepersonisoverparty, which has quickly become another semi-monthly occurrence.
Some of the most well known victims of the relentless Twitter base are social media stars themselves, with the likes of Kim Kardashian and Taylor Swift having their own distinctive hashtags. The youth of today have so quickly become unable to forgive the actions of others; sympathy and understanding others are lost to a world of pettiness and take-down agendas.
If cultural misappropriation was punishable by death, wouldn’t all Americans be dead? The United States of America was founded with the principles of freedom and equal opportunity, which created a melting pot of cultures and ethnicities. But cry-bullies are oblivious to the truthful reality around them, attacking certain groups of people for insignificant matters, while being hypocritical and taking away from the true societal issues.
Cry-bullies clearly haven’t learned from the tales of the boy who cried wolf, labeling everything as racism, which leads to the definition of racism getting blurry and losing its importance. What cry-bullies fail to understand is that just because something hurts a person’s feelings, does not therefore mean it is racist or grounds for an attack.
For the vast expanse of human history, hatred has harbored beneath the fake facades of humankind. As civilizations evolved alongside technological innovations, the methods used to attack and challenge other humans did too. The 21st century now perpetuates hatred, no longer hidden to the outskirts of society. Cry-bullies bask in their newfound limelight, and continue their ignorance by denying the truth and rational thinking.
Reversing traditional victim roles does not further either participant, but recent history fails to prevail. Crybullies are a mere pawn in the game of hatred and power, bound to an infinitely oblivious cycle of attention seeking and attacking without reason.
