Spring into glee
Spring is always associated with bright, pretty colors and the transition from way too cold to nice, comfortable temperatures in the 70s and 80s. Somewhere between March and June it starts to feel good outside again with virtually perfect temps; it’s a perfect time to go for a walk, ride a bike or play a sport.
Certain smells and sounds come with spring, such as sizzling hot dogs on a grill. The trees with white flowers finally bloom – the ones that smell so gross they almost smell like roses in a way. And then there’s the sound of a baseball coach telling his team to get its butt in the dirt, what’s not to love?
Spring is a time where everything feels alive and friends can be with each other. You can go on vacation anywhere because the weather is so beautiful that you don’t have to worry about being uncomfortable. In addition to everything feeling less dead, it’s the time of year where you can basically wear whatever you want. With the weather being perfect, it’s impossible to be uncomfortable.
Certain songs come with the season. For example, “Here Comes the Sun” by the Beatles is a classic, representing the sun finally coming out, hitting home for some after a long and cold winter. “The Rain Song” by Led Zeppelin represents the rain because rain is frequent, and “Mr. Blue Sky” by Electric Light Orchestra says there’s not a cloud in the sky and no need for worry. These songs all connect with spring and the feel the season brings.
The holidays are also highlights of spring. For example, St. Patrick’s Day, a day of pure enjoyment, is filled with parades and celebrations with friends and family. Or Memorial Day, a day filled with happy smiling faces from everyone, hopefully even Dad if his baseball team wins. Yes, it’s for remembering those who served and continue to serve our country, but it’s also a great time to go to the pool with your family or grill out.
Spring time always brings about so many different activities and things to do. These activities could be either winter or summer oriented because the weather is basically perfect. For example, snowboarding in New Mexico or Colorado is possibly the most enjoyable activity do in the snow, and the breeze is so nice in the mountains it feels like you could wear either nine jackets or nothing at all. When baseball season starts back up, it’s refreshing to see baseball games back on TV and see people in their front yards tossing a ball or playing in a sandlot.
Speaking of “Sandlot,” there are certain movies that bring the feeling of spring back too. Baseball-related movies like the Sandlot, “Bad News Bears,” or “Benchwarmers” always bring feel-good vibes. They all include elements of teamwork that just make you smile and what better way to show teamwork than with the spring sport, baseball?
Spring is the best season because it is not too cold and not too hot. Everywhere you go people seem to be in a better mood. From the smells to the sights, it is just a great time of year to be with friends or loved ones. You can take your dog for a walk or binge a TV show on your phone at the park. So take a break this year during spring and just watch everything grow. It never disappoints.
