The Student Council will be hosting the annual Halloween carnival this Thursday, Oct. 27, from 6-8:30 p.m. in the new practice gyms and cafeteria to help raise money for the school’s clubs and organizations.
Games, bounce houses and even a haunted house will be just some of the many activities in the Halloween carnival. Food will be sold and admission is free. Tickets will be used at every activity and will be sold at 50 cents per ticket.
“This is a way of showing young children just how great Lewisville is and how friendly our students are,” student activities director Allison Stamey said.
The money earned from the tickets will benefit each of the clubs and organizations participating in the carnival.
“How ever much money they make is how much they get, minus the booth fee,” Stamey said.
Community connection officer and senior Alexis Rodarte said all the clubs help make the event a success.
“The best part of the carnival is watching everyone have a good time together,” Rodarte said.
For district community service officer and senior Austin Taylor, the best part is watching the carnival participants.
“Getting to see little kids having fun and seeing us get involved is what I enjoy the most,” Taylor said.
The new location provides more space for the carnival but also brings the challenge of working around the construction sites.
“Our cheerleaders were going to do a dunking booth outside, but there is no room outside because of the construction,” Stamey said.
Parking may also be tough to find because the carnival coincides with opening night of the fall musical, “Hairspray.” Stamey said StuCo members will be at the doors to guide carnival attenders through the school. She also encouraged attenders to carpool.
Some of the clubs and organizations participating in the carnival are Farmerettes, soccer, Student Council, newspaper, cheerleading, Asia Club, ROTC, FFA, volleyball, Circle of Friends, Environmental Club, Art Club and the Junior State of America.
