Red Ribbon drug awareness week begins on Monday with a full schedule of activities.
“[Student Council] passes out the ribbons and decorate the hall and just try to raise awareness,” StuCo sponsor Allison Stamey said. “Red Ribbon week has never been a huge thing at the high school level, but to me it’s most important at the high school level.”
The week will include dress up days as well as other activities organized by Student Council.
“We are doing a flush the pot where the kids come up, sign a pledge to be drug and alcohol free, and then make a guess on how much candy is in the pot,” Stamey said. “Then we’re doing a pledge poster the next day. It’s going to be huge and hopefully all the kids will sign it.”
The dress days are as follows:
Monday: Shoot for a better future, wear your favorite basketball team shirt
Tuesday: Be sweet to your heart, wear pink and white for Valentine’s Day
Wednesday: Give drugs the boot, wear boots
Thursday: Be a superhero, fight off drugs, wear superhero attire
Friday: Put a cap on drugs, wear a hat
