Carter BloodCare visits LHS
Student Council and Carter BloodCare organized a drive for students and staff to donate blood on Tuesday. A few of the donors stopped to answer our questions.
Senior Eduardo Garcia
Q: What are your thoughts on donating?
A: “I like to do what I can to help other people and donating blood is a great way to save lives.”
Q: What motivated you to donate blood?
A: “At first my motivation was to get a ribbon when I graduated, but after a while the motivation just came from saving people, knowing I could save lives.”
Q: How do you feel knowing that your blood could save lives?
A: “Knowing that your blood is being used to save someone’s life makes me feel good about myself.”
Senior Katia Nava
Q: What were your concerns on donating blood?
A: “I was scared because I’ve fainted before.”
Q: Was this the first time you’ve donated blood in school?
A: “No, I did last year.”
Q: Did you faint last year?
A: “Yes that was the first time, I was walking down the stairs and it just hit me.”
Senior Henry Acosta
Q: How do you feel knowing that your blood could save peoples’ lives?
A: “It feels good. It makes me happy.”
Q: Why does it make you happy?
A: “I just like helping people. I just joined the army to help my country, so it’s something that will help me become a better person.”
Senior Jonathan Reyes
Q: How do you feel knowing that your blood could save lives?
A: “Oh, it makes me feel great. My grandma needed a blood transfusion and I helped her, and now I want to help others.”
Q:What were your concerns about donating blood?
A: “I was really nervous. I was shaking really hard, and as I sat down I was still shaking. I took about 20 steps leaving and I almost fainted, and they caught me.”
Senior Ernesto Flores
Q: How do you feel knowing that your blood could save lives?
A: “It feels awesome. I feel like if you have the opportunity to do it, you should do it on a regular basis.”
