Theatre Department to present ‘Anatomy of Gray’
The Theatre Department will be presenting a 40-minute One-Act Play [OAP] titled, “Anatomy of Gray”, for this Saturday’s UIL district competition, directed by Wendy Barrett.
Set in Indiana during the late 1880s, this play centers around a young girl who has lost her father. She prays for a healer to come to the small town of Gray, and her prayer comes true. The play deals with loss, love, and healing.
The OAP will be judged on certain categories such as characterization, physicality, vocal dynamics, ensemble, and performance effectiveness. They must score well in these requirements to advance from district to area competition, and they must not exceed the time limit or else they will face disqualification. Only two out of six competing high school theatre teams will be able to advance to area.
“It was very interesting and very enjoyable to to work on this project,” lead actor Joshua Wallace said, “I’m not nervous about UIL at all. I stay relaxed to keep a cool head, and I know that I got to do my best on Saturday.”
The OAP has free admission and will be starting around 3 p.m. at Hebron High School tomorrow. It is highly recommended to be there by 2:30; no one will be allowed in after production begins.
If interested in other OAP’s from this district, all the showtimes are as follows, all at Hebron:
12 p.m. – Ryan High School
1 p.m. – Coppell High School
