‘Buck’ stops here

JWAC guest speaker to visit Wednesday, will talk about FBI career

Former Deputy Director of the FBI, Oliver “Buck” Revell, will be a guest speaker in the Lecture Hall on Wednesday, April 9 during second period.

He will explain both his career experiences and ways to pursue careers in the FBI. The end of the presentation will include a question and answer session for students to ask specific questions.

The flyer is a student’s ticket out of class on April 9. The flyer must have the student’s name printed on it and the permission and signature of the student’s second period teacher.

Sponsor of Junior World Affairs Council Jayne Keane is also a member of the World Affairs Council which sponsors guest speakers to come to high schools and educate students about careers. Revell is coming to speak for free to the students at Main Campus.

Keane said she would like to see more interest from students about this unique opportunity.

“Because our students don’t really have the opportunity to see things like this, [I don’t understand] why they wouldn’t want to come,” Keane said.

Keane shared her beliefs about education as well.

“There is so much more to educating students than just academics,” Keane said. “They’ve got to be educated about life and about the world and about themselves, technology and citizenship.”

The motto of JWAC is “making the world a better place, one person at a time.” Keane said she lives out this motto in her own life so she can be a role model for her students.

“That’s one of the reasons I’m a teacher,” Keane said, “because I think I have the power to touch a lot of people’s lives in a really positive way. It’s my responsibility; it’s my duty as a teacher.”
