To aid in the search for the successor to Superintendent Dr. Stephen Waddell, the district has released a survey on its website to generate feedback and suggestions from parents, teachers, students and community members.

Waddell announced his retirement, effective Jan. 31, on the Nov. 10, 2014, after being with the district since 2011.

In general, the survey is for people to select qualities they are looking for in a superintendent. The survey takes only a few minutes to complete and remains anonymous. The survey closes on Tuesday, Jan. 27.

“We are excited to get the process started and begin hearing from our community and staff,” said Trisha Sheffield, Board of Trustees president.

The district has hired the search firm Ray and Associates to work with the district to find the new superintendent. They were chosen over two other companies, including the one used in the search that hired Waddell. Sheffield said that Ray and Associates was chosen due to a few factors.

“Their online survey, which will be open to all community and stakeholder groups and used to create a superintendent profile, is available in multiple languages,” Sheffield said.

The firm also allows the district board members to review the videos of the semi-finalists for the position, as well as helping in the transition period after the search for free.

Dr. Kevin Rogers was named interim superintendent on Dec. 17. Previously Rogers was the Chief Operation Officer for the district. Rogers has been in the district since 1986, when he was a middle school science teacher, and has held the positions of assistant principal and principal, most recently at Marcus High School.
