The Parent Teacher Student Association is sponsoring the fifth annual spring craft show on Saturday, April 1. The event will take place in the front area of the school from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. The spring craft show is open for all and admission will be free.

Along with the PTSA chair members, many people take part to organize this event including returning parents, National Honor Society members and Student Council members.

“An event such as this takes a team of awesome parent volunteers,” craft show chair Kathleen Walsh said. “Some of our committee no longer have students in LHS, but return year after year to help because we have fun.”

The show is expected to have 97 booths consisting of boutique clothing and accessories, pastries, handmade soaps and handmade jewelry. Many of these vendors come back every year because of their found success with the event.

“Some of our vendors are local, some have been with the spring craft show for five years, others have been supporting LHS by being in the LHS baseball fall craft show for over 22 years,” Walsh said.

As well as vendor booths, the spring craft show will have other activities going on throughout the day.

“[There will be] a huge PTSA Raffle, all items [in the raffle] come from our vendors, and a concession [stand],” floor manager Blanca Robison said. “Last year we had a food truck.”

The spring craft show has been a positive impact for the community and PTSA members. This event helps small local vendors gain a foothold in consumerism and receive more attention from the public. All vendors must pay a fee in order to have a booth in the event which goes to fund projects for PTSA members.

“Money raised from booth fees helps fund [scholarships for senior PTSA members],” Walsh said. “For the past seven years we have been able to fund 10 $500 scholarships.”
