The district’s annual Grandscape movie night will be held on Tuesday, March 18 featuring the 2001 film, “Monsters Inc.” Doors open at 6 p.m. and pre-show entertainment featuring prize giveaways hosted by two emcee’s will begin at 6:30 p.m. Tickets for the event are $5 each and may be purchased in the Student Council room or through a QR code link.
By purchasing a ticket, students will earn one service hour toward a club or organization, and students will earn an additional two service hours for attending the event. Concession stands will be available for attendees to purchase popcorn, cotton candy, drinks and more to enjoy during the movie.
“I enjoy getting together with our LISD Student Council advisers, Dr. Miller [and Superintendent] Dr. Rapp,” student activities director Daniel Moser said. “I love to see all the students from other schools getting together for a really good cause.”
All earnings from ticket purchases will be going toward the LISD “Adopt an Angel” program and the district’s annual back to school fair.
“It’s a good, nostalgic movie choice,” junior StuCo member Corbin Webster said. “It brings back a lot of childhood memories, watching it with my family and laughing. I’m happy to hangout with my buddies and go with StuCo friends.”
StuCo Vice President Destiny Courtney expects high attendance, despite the lack of student attendance in previous years. StuCo officers have attempted to promote the movie night heavily, as officers from all five high schools have a friendly competition to see which school can sell the most tickets.
“[I think] students should go to the movie night because it’s a really good experience,” Courtney said. “[You get to] be with your friends, watch a movie and interact with the other schools, it’s so nice to meet people.”
