The girls soccer season came to an end on Monday, March 17 with their final game ending 1-0 against Little Elm. They ended the year 10-12 and were not able to make the playoffs, but that didn’t stop them from having a fun and memorable season.
“This season has been by far the most successful of my high school career and what has made it the most memorable is finding that success with my teammates,” senior captain Ella Fechter said. “Without a doubt this is the most special team I’ve been fortunate enough to be a part of.”
The girls soccer team’s second to last game was their senior night. Though senior night is supposed to be fun and memorable, the players still had to be focused and had to play their best for everyone in the stands.
“I prepared myself by making sure I stayed focused even with everything going on,” senior Kaitlyn Campos said. “It meant a lot to me to try and win that game even knowing it would be a tough game.”
The team not only had to stay focused for game days, but also had to deal with many bumps in the road. They could not let anything get in their way from winning.
“The most difficult part of playing during the games was having to deal with the cold,” sophomore Melanie Rodriguez said. “It affected our playing momentum.”
Wins or losses, the girls soccer team ended in style with many friendships on and off the field.
“What has made it the most memorable is finding that success with my teammates,” Fechter said. “We all came together in a way we hadn’t before, and it led us to wins that we would’ve been incapable of in years past.”
