Lewisville Fighting Farmers will be taking on Denton Ryan Raiders. With Lewisville at 1-6, and Denton Ryan at 3-4, the two teams are in for an interesting game.
Lewisville’s record hasn’t been top notch, but that doesn’t mean that their confidence is crushed, especially with the intense Homecoming game against Flower Mound.
“We feel bad, but we know that was our best game that we showed,” said senior receiver Jocqui Davis. “We know that if we just practice harder, we’ll come out with a win next week.”
Although the team has a losing record, wide receiver coach Landon Wren says the record doesn’t back up the improvements made by the team.
“If you look at each school, and look at our games, there’s been a couple games where we’ve been blown out,” Wren said. “But in every other game, we’ve been right there with the chance to win at the end of the game, so we’ve been a lot more competitive this year than we have in years past.”
The farmers have no intention of losing against Denton Ryan, especially with the play-offs hanging on the balance.
“If we lose [against Marcus] then our backs are really against the wall, and it’s going to be a must win situation for us if we wanna make the playoffs,” Wren said. “Either way, we’re going to have to beat Denton Ryan to make the playoffs.”
The players have high hopes for the Denton Ryan game, and expect a good outcome from it.
“I expect us to come out and play our best, and try our hardest,” junior nose guard Joe Head said. “That’s the only way we can win.”
According to senior running back Ahkeel Guy, the team has made great progress and drastically changed in the past few weeks.
“At the beginning of the season, we started off slow, with the new offense and everything,” Guy said. “But we’ve progressed as a team, so we should have a good chance.”
