Baseball to face Marcus on Wednesday
With the season around the corner, the Farmers prepare for their first preseason game at Arlington Heights on Tuesday.
The first district game is on March 9 against the school’s biggest rival, Marcus High School.
“We are starting off very well,” junior Cj Flores said. “We started off 4-2. [We] had some good wins [and] had some good losses, but we need to play better and get ready for the regular season.”
The boys have been conditioning day after day along with their regular practices, in order to get ready for a stronger season.
“We are really playing well as a team and not being selfish, and really working towards getting the wins instead of focusing on personal stats, going to the weight room, hitting after school, stuff like that,” Flores said.
It’s beginning to show how the team is starting to show a lot of improvement during the preseason, and they believe they really can do great and go far in the playoffs.
“Well we need to play defense like Lewisville can, and hit the ball well,” junior Patrick Bethea said. “If our pitchers also do their job, and if we do everything else, we would be pretty high in our district. When everything is going bad, like when our team is walking people, or we can’t field the ball, then we know we have work to do.”
Players also talked about how they are on a rise during the season and they are truly in believe that they can work harder and get better in order for the Farmers to make the playoffs.
