Baseball team to seek district wins in order to make playoffs

The Farmers will have another chance to try to fight for another district win against Allen in order to get back on track.

After going into an extra inning during last Saturday’s game against Marcus, the Farmer baseball team brought home a 3-1 win. On Tuesday, the team took a 4-3 loss against the Allen Eagles, but the Eagles and Farmers meet again tomorrow night.

“[The season] started off slow but we need to pick it up,” junior Ben Miller said. “I think we need to start playing as a team and not be selfish on the field.”

The team’s current season record is 9-13 with a total of four district wins.

“We need to be more vocal and we need to show that we are a better team than what our record says,” Miller said.

The Farmers will have another chance to try to fight for a district win against Allen in order to get back on track. They are also trying different approaches to make the team more motivated and have more confidence in each of the players.

“We are starting off slow but I believe we can turn it around because we’ve only played about four games so far, and it’s only the beginning of the season so we still have a lot of baseball left,” senior Seth Spears said.

While the players are keeping hope alive and continuing to work hard, the Farmers are going through a minor setback for a major comeback. The team is struggling right now but they are trying to get a win streak.

“We are in the middle of district, and we have played several close games,” head coach Mike Campbell said. “All the teams are pretty jumbled closely together except Hebron who has only one loss, so it will be a close race for the final three spots for the playoffs.”

Come out tomorrow night to support the Farmers at Allen against the Allen Eagles at 7:30.
