“In summer, you are able to stop and enjoy the moment.”

Taking in the sunshine, starry nights

In winter, when the days become dark and bitter, summer comes to mind. Creating bucket lists and Pinterest boards set a blueprint for the ideal summer. Having the perfect summer fling like in the movies, chasing a summer tan and enjoying the relaxing summer rain are just a handful of the pleasant moments summer has to offer.

Summer doesn’t have a great deal of holidays, so there is no stress about having to see strange family members who ask excessive amounts of questions. On the other hand, this time of the year also gives the perfect opportunity to leave town to see family, receiving time off work to see those you love and enjoy the beautiful summer weather together.

One of the main holidays celebrated in summer is the Fourth of July. The day itself allows for new memories to be made, however you choose to celebrate. Fourth of July allows for all types of delicious foods like funnel cake and red, white and blue popsicles from fairs or your freezer to be binged. The holiday gives an excuse to have a party, hang with friends and light fireworks (with caution, of course).

Every summer, standout movies and songs are praised and replayed on the radio all summer long. The successful songs and films are named ‘the perfect summer anthem’ or ‘movie of the summer.’ Those new movies or songs are able to leave an impact on summer entertainment, whether it’s a long-awaited movie or a breakout artist releasing a feel-good single. During the breeziest of autumn days, these songs have the ability to remind you of the memories made in the previous season.

Nothing is finer than pairing a perfect song with the fresh summer air. Rolling the windows down and turning the radio up is one of the stereotypes made about the summertime, but you experience a moment of bliss when you are able to be carefree and listen to a song accompanied by the warm summer breeze.

Summer is also a perfect time for sports whether it’s watching or playing. Men and women’s soccer World Cups are played at almost every restaurant and are one of summer’s most discussed events. Baseball season peaks during this time and anticipation builds as spectators see if their favored teams are having successful seasons. Every four years, the summer Olympics takes place and the whole world unites and amazing stories are shared by athletes from all over the world.

Taking care of oneself peaks in the summer. Maybe it’s the opportunity to step outside in the early morning when the weather is at its most refreshing and go for a relaxing walk, or utilizing those fresh fruits for any meal which allows one’s health to be a priority. Time in the sun allows you to receive vitamin D (the ‘sunshine vitamin’), which reduces depression and supports the health of the immune system.

Falling in the middle of the year (for those in the northern hemisphere), summer comes as a reminder that the year is halfway over, so why not make the best of it? In summer, you are able to stop and enjoy the moment. You’re free to stop and take in the sunshine.

Summer is the perfect season of the year due to limitless opportunities to dedicate time to yourself, create lasting memories and appreciate the beautiful weather. You are able to choose exactly how you want to spend your summer. Nothing is greater than making yourself feel wonderful accompanied by everlasting sunshine.
