Column: Final farewell
After four years of high school, I’m glad to be leaving all of the crowded hallways, long lunch lines and hot classrooms. Yet, I know, deep down I’m going to miss walking the halls. No matter where I go, the memories of these last few years will always be with me. I’m going to miss eating block lunch with my friends, meeting new people in new classes and meeting cool teachers who I know I’m going to miss.
Freshman year couldn’t have come any faster. I was glad to have moved up from being a ‘simple middle schooler’ to a freshman in high school. Granted the work was harder but I was glad to be improving. Although middle school was hard for me, I met a great group of people who helped me and soon became my best friends. As freshman year passed, our group grew closer and memories were made. Sophomore and junior years were relatively the same; they consisted of getting homework done, taking tests and being put in new classes. Granted, I moved from being at Killough to Main, which helped with the consistency.
Senior year came and I couldn’t have been more excited. Knowing that seniors get to do a lot more fun stuff made it more exhilarating. Prom, rose cutting, senior picnic and finally graduation. Prom was the best thing I went to; I had so much fun with my friends dancing. The food was also great.
Thinking about graduation is kind of stressful, but the end result will be a great reward. Getting a diploma will make things real. I’ll know that I have ‘finally’ graduated high school and have proof of it. College is the next step of the process: passing college and getting a degree. What’s next? Who knows. What happens afterward is up to each individual person. Normally seniors have something inspirational to say so the underclassmen have something to think about for when they hit senior year. All I can say is take your time and make sure you get all your work done so you can pass with flying colors.
