When I left middle school, it felt like school would never end.
Now here I am, four years later, looking back on all of the naïveté and wondering where the time went. Four years of knowledge, of accomplishment, and, most of all, of community. Four years that I can call the best four years of my life – a claim that I couldn’t make were it not for all of you; the dedicated teachers and students that make Lewisville High School such an incredible place to be.
I am privileged to say that I have shared these years with such genuine people and become part of an undying school spirit. To my fellow seniors, it’s finally time for us to part ways. It’s a sad time, but this is where the world starts. We’ve spent these past years preparing to live out the rest of our lives by our own guidance. All of these successes, failures, broken hearts, stale lunches, pep rallies, TAKS tests, AP tests, hallway fights, 6 A.M. practices, concerts, plays, touchdowns, home runs, goals, field trips, last-minute projects, and “Goooooood morning, Farmers!” later, we are finally ready to move on.
I wish you all the best of luck in your futures, and the greatest of graces in what you make of yourselves. Several years down the road when you’re suiting up to perform open heart surgery, working overnight to produce Facebook 2.0 fueled by nothing but Starbucks and sandwiches, or even entwining your soul at the strings of a guitar for the world to hear, just remember; it’s a cold world out there, don’t let it get you down. More importantly, remember, above all else, that no matter where you end up or what you find yourself doing to put food on the table, that deep down we will always bleed maroon. Show the world what Farmer Pride means.
Stay great, Lewisville. It’s been one crazy ride.
