Girls’ basketball opens at first tournament this season

Senior Monisha Neal scored 21 points, but the Lady Farmers (3-1)  fell to Wakeland (2-1) 49-39 in their first loss of the season during the opening round of the Frisco tournament on Thursday.

The girls still have at least two more games to play in the tournament. They played Plano this afternoon, but the results are unavailable at this time.

No matter how the games go the rest of the weekend, the team is guaranteed 3 games.

“[At the tournament] I’m going to play harder, smarter,[and] better,” freshman Sharmaine Harper said.

Head coach Charlotte Jones said the whole point of the tournament is to play a few games and learn from their mistakes.

“We do tournaments just to work on offense and defense, give us more games,” head coach Charlotte Jones said. “The more games we play, the more experience we have. It gives us an opportunity to see what we need to work on.”
