Lady Farmers to face Marcus for last time this season

After a loss 64-47 Tuesday against Flower Mound [15-10 overall, 5-1 in district], the Lady Farmers [11-12, 1-5] are taking on Marcus [23-2, 6-0] in a road matchup tonight at 6.

Marcus is ranked 3rd in the State in class 5A according to Texas Association of Basketball Coaches. This will be the second game the Lady Farmers have played against Marcus this season.

With only three district games left after tonight’s Marcus game, the Lady Farmers are currently 5th in the district and have to move up and be in the top 4 to make playoffs.

In the last game against Marcus, the Lady Farmers lost 58-30 at home. But head coach Charlotte Jones said her team has not yet reached its potential.

“I’ve learned that these kids can play better than what they are playing, way better,” Jones said. “They can compete with anyone.”

In the last game against Marcus, senior Monisha Neal scored three 2-pointers and one 3-pointer to get her a total of 13 points for the game.

“[To prepare for the Marcus game] I practice, work on my stride, everybody coming together doing what we have to do,” Neal said.

Before the game, they team has their own way of getting hyped.

“We dance and yell in the locker room to get krunk,” senior Elizabeth Simon said.

To prepare the team to play against Marcus, Jones has been going over certain offenses and defenses, going through game situations, giving positive information everyday, making corrections in a positive manner, and trying to build their confidence, Jones said.
