Senior Sunrise will be held at Max Goldsmith Stadium next Friday, Sept. 16.

The first annual Senior Sunrise will be held before school on Friday, Sept. 16 from 6:30 to 8 at Max Goldsmith Stadium.

Seniors will receive a T-shirt along with breakfast of their choice including burritos and donuts.

“We went to a student leadership camp in the middle of the summer and heard about it in one of our group sessions,” student body liaison Juan Martinez said. “We thought it would be cool to do here.”

Senior Sunrise is the first of its kind at the school as it is going to allow all of the seniors to enjoy time together. The hope is that there is a big enough turnout this year that it becomes a new senior class tradition.

“I think all of us are close enough to make this successful, and I think it’s just a good idea to bond as a class,” student body multicultural officer Sarah Stephens said.

The administration has been supportive of the idea from the start.

“I think they should believe it is something positive; we’re all coming together as a class and it’s just bonding for us,” Stephens said.

Martinez spoke with some members of the graduating class of 2016, and they had positive feedback about the idea of the event.

“I ran the idea to seniors last year and they said they wished that the school did that whenever they were there,” Martinez said.
