ZOOMING IN
Q: What lead you into designing the logo for ColorPalooza?
A: “I didn’t know about [the event] until my friend told me while she was in an art class, and suggested that i do it, I was [mainly drawing,] I never expected to win.”
Q: What challenges did you go through when rough drafting and making the logo?
A: “I was deciding [on] what type of style I should do, I searched up inspiration [for a] retro look, but my design didn’t come out retro. I like the colors [that I used] because one of the criterias was that it had to resemble art.”
Q: If there was someone who wanted to be an artist like you, what advice would you give to them?
A: “Don’t listen to the videos that ‘you suck if you do this,’ try to find art styles that resemble what you like, it’s really good to practice and resemble your favorite ones, and they’ll turn into your own styles.”
Q: What are your favourite art styles that you find appealing?
A: “I usually draw in a manga style, or canadian cartoon style, like the style you would see in Total Drama or in 6teen.”
Q: Have you ever been to past Colorpalooza events, if so, how would you explain the atmosphere of the event?
A: “I went to a Colorpalooza event, and I thought it was very fun. I loved how they brought dancers and performers from different cultures, which added to the overall colorful theme. The atmosphere felt very ‘spring’ like if there was any way I could explain it.”
Q: Besides this project, we’re there any other big projects that you’ve done in the past as this?
A: “I had always just drawn for fun. I haven’t done one as big as this, but I have done things that were similar but on a smaller scale. For example, I drew the design for my middle school play, Antigone, and I had won a shirt design contest for my middle school’s girls athletics team.”
Q: While designing the logo, how has this project inspired you?
A: “I think that designing this logo has made me more inclined to graphic design. I started my graphic design class at the TECC East this semester, and I think that designing that logo has brought me closer to everything with graphic designing.”
