Q:What motivated you to enroll in cosmetology?
A: “I was motivated to enroll in cosmetology because I love helping people feel comfortable in their own skin. I have always enjoyed working with hair and beauty because it allows me to express creativity while helping others. I have wanted to be a cosmetologist since I was in elementary school, and that dream has stayed with me over the years. I also enjoy learning hands-on skills and working closely with others. Overall, cosmetology feels like the perfect path for me to grow and make a positive impact on people.”
Q: What is your favorite memory as a cosmetology student?
A: “One of my best memories is when I was learning how to perm hair. I made a friend, and now we’re really close to one another.”
Q: What is something you are proud of accomplishing ?
A: “Something I’m really proud of accomplishing is being a cosmetology student for the past three years and getting all my hours in.”
Q: What advice would you give the upcoming student wanting to join cosmetology?
A: “Cosmetology takes a lot of hands-on practice, so don’t be afraid to put the time in. Working on hair, nails, skin and makeup builds your confidence. You’ll make mistakes sometimes, but they’re part of the learning process, and it’s important to pay closer attention to your teachers so you can improve.”
Q: What goals would you like to achieve for cosmetology at the end of the school year?
A: “I want to challenge myself, grow my abilities and be ready for anything coming my way. I want to pass my midterm with a good grade that would make me proud.”
Q: What skills have you learned so far?
A: “In cosmetology, I’ve learned how to cut hair, do perms, highlights, waxings through hands-on practice. The more I work on these types of skills, the better I get and learning different hair types makes me feel more comfortable with what I’m going to do with my future clients’ hair.”
Q: How has cosmetology helped you grow personally?
A: “Being in cosmetology has helped me open up, communicate better and connect with new people. I’ve made new friends and feel comfortable talking to others.”
Q: Do you plan to attend college or cosmetology school after high school?
A: “I would love to attend both college and cosmetology school after high school so I can earn my cosmetology license while continuing my education and creating more career opportunities.”
Q: How does cosmetology in high school give students an advantage?
A: “It definitely gives students an advantage because you can start learning skills early while also having time to decide if cosmetology is something you want to pursue.”
