Senior Ruby Garcia manages to get out of her opponents hold to eventually get a pin at the district meet on Feb. 6.

Today and tomorrow wrestlers from both teams will be attending the regional meet at Allen High School. Each wrestler has worked hard to be in this position, and now they are all only one meet away from their goals of making it to state.

“Getting to regionals wasn’t hard, it was just tiring,” sophomore Jordan Haskins said. “My goal is to get first at state.”

The boys’ team has nine going to regionals while the girls’ team has seven. With past experience on their sides, contenders will have the upper hand when competing at regionals against the less experienced wrestlers.

“I believe that I can be going to state,” senior Jezebel Pardo said. “If I keep putting in work and staying focused I will go.”

The wrestlers who qualify will be attending the state meet Feb. 19-20 at Berry Center in Cypress, Texas.

“I think I’ve got a good shot at winning state,” senior Chris Hamill said. “I’ve already beaten a couple highly ranked people in the state, and I’m only worried about three people. It’s going to be close.”
