The theatre department is showing Peter and The Starcatcher on April 30, May 1 and May 3. This is the second annual dinner show they will be hosting.
Tickets are on sale now. April 30 is snacks night, May 1 is pizza night and May 3 is a spaghetti dinner. The price for night one is $10, night two is $15 and night three is $20. Tickets can be purchased from the theatre website.
Peter and The Starcatcher is an adaptation of the original Peter Pan story, but follows Peter as an orphan, along with his friends Prentiss and Ted. This play features multiple plot twists and unexpected events.
“I would describe [the actor’s performance] as passionate and fun,” director Yobany Pizano said. “I think they are allowing themselves to get lost in the script and the story. A lot of people have to buy-in when it comes to Peter Pan, so putting on a show that’s a prequel to the tale we’re familiar with can encourage people to buy into the story and the play we are putting on.”
The entire cast spent weeks getting comfortable in their roles and their excitement shows how close they got with their character.
“I’m really happy with [what] I got casted for,” sophomore Isabella Fagan said. “It was a big thing for me, but the more we rehearsed and practiced, [the more] I grew a deeper connection with Molly.”
While actors found their rhythm on stage, the production crew was busy putting together the look and immersion of the show behind the scenes, including the characters’ costumes.
“The costumes weren’t hard to find,” costume designer and junior Riyah Calvin said. “We had so many costumes from our last play that we were able to use for this one, since it was set in the same time frame.”
Despite the challenges faced with such a large cast, the students are excited to put on the show.
“It was difficult to put on a show with two adults and 30 children, but working on intimacy with our company and using that experience to apply that to our show, we now have the show up on its feet,” Pizano said.
