The district will be holding its annual Grandscape Movie Night on Tuesday, March 24 at 6:30 p.m., featuring the 2004 film “The Incredibles.” The event will open at 6 p.m. for “pre-show entertainment” where students will have the opportunity to win prizes, and there will also be a host to hype up the crowd until the movie begins.
Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased here or from StuCo officers. Students will earn one hour of community service to any organization or club for purchasing a ticket and two hours for attending. In addition to the restaurants around Grandscape, there will also be concession stands selling popcorn, candy and sodas. It was voted on by the district.
“I’ve never watched ‘The Incredibles,’ but I’m really excited to attend and watch it for the first time,” junior StuCo member Emma Cruz said. “I have attended in the past. There’s so many people that show up and make it a very nice environment.”
StuCo officers and advisers encourage as many people as possible to attend. They have even turned it into a competition to see which school can sell the most tickets.
“We always want to do better than we have in the past,” StuCo adviser Dan Moser said. “We try to get as many people as we can there by giving community service hours and trying to make it fun for everyone.”
All the money raised will be distributed to organizations like the LISD Adopt an Angel and back to school fair.
“This event and others have shown me you can still have fun while helping others,” senior class president Caneck Rodriguez said. “Especially because it’s a win-win, you get community service and you help less fortunate people.”
