Freshman Sharmaine Harper drives with the ball against the Mesquite defense during the fourth quarter on Tuesday, Nov. 5. Both teams will be introduced at Midnight Madness tonight starting at 10:15 p.m.

A staff vs. students basketball game, performances from the cheerleaders and B-Bots, chances to win prizes, and, of course, an introduction for the boys and girls basketball teams are all a part of the third annual Midnight Madness extravaganza tonight at “The Barn” arena.

The girls basketball team takes on Plano East at 7:30 p.m. The Midnight Madness event starts at 10:15 p.m. and ends around midnight.

“I enjoy Midnight Madness,” head boys basketball coach Gary Collier said. “I really would like to get it as exciting as the colleges do. They do a great job and have tremendous school spirit. It’s a very fun time for the entire school.”

Midnight Madness is a special event made to help excite the students and staff as well as the community as a whole by introducing the teams and getting many groups involved.

“I think Midnight Madness helps me get more ready for the season to start,” said Anthony Davis, a junior on the boys varsity team.

Everyone in the community is invited to come and enjoy the celebration. Adult tickets are $3 and student tickets are only $2. A free prize ticket is included with each ticket.

Senior varsity girls player Monisha Neal said she’s most excited “just to see everybody come out to support the basketball team.”
