ZOOMING IN
Q: What made you join the mental health class?
A: “What made me join mental health class was l wanted to learn more about mental health awareness, the side effects that people don’t usually see, and what it feels like to be understood.”
Q: What does mental health mean to you?
A: “For me, mental health means something serious because many people take it as a joke and don’t see the seriousness of it and the effects it has.”
Q: If someone talked about their mental health with you, how would you respond?
A: “If someone I knew was struggling with their mental health, I would try to be very understandable and make them feel loved by making them a smile, giving them my perspective on stuff, being very helpful and encouraging them to do better in life, making them small gifts and checking up on them no matter what.”
Q: Why do you like being in mental health class?
A: “I like being in the mental health class because I can talk about anything without feeling judged. I’m able to be helpful with someone going through a harsh time and be someone people trust and can tell anything to.”
Q: If you would tell someone about mental health, how would you describe it?
A: “I would describe mental health as something many people struggle with, but we don’t speak up. It’s a very serious topic and I want to tell people how we could be more aware of this.”
Q: What are you doing after graduating?
A: “My plan after high school is how I want to become a counselor and help the people who need it the most so they know they are important and special. They should know they always have someone they could rely on no matter what.”
Q: What’s something you accomplished that you’re proud of?
A: “Being able to manage working and doing well academically in school and still having some time to do the things I enjoy doing with family and friends like going to the park and having a small vacation to my favorite place.”
