Q: What college will you attend? What is your intended major, and why that major?
A: “I’ve decided to attend the University of Texas at Dallas and major in engineering. UTD was the school that gave me the most amount of money. It’s also close to where I live, so I can commute and not worry about housing.”
Q: What extracurriculars have you been involved in throughout high school?
A: “I was in National Honors Society, Interact, mock trial, TECC, which is a club all about technology, choir and tennis. NHS was the most time consuming because of all the volunteering, but it was also my favorite because all my friends were in it too.”
Q: What was the most challenging aspect about balancing extracurriculars and academics?
A: “Time management was the most challenging part, making time for yourself after academics. For example, when I have a test coming up and I wanted to play pickleball or football, I couldn’t, so I just had to go on a different day or after the test.”
Q: What class was the most challenging for you? Why?
A: “Calculus was the most difficult for me because of all the new stuff. There were a lot of word definitions, while I prefer seeing numbers instead of paragraphs.”
Q: Who has helped you the most throughout these last four years? How have they helped you?
A: “My mom has helped me the most because she’s always been there for me when I needed help, guidance and good moral rules. The Bible has also helped me a lot.”
Q: What has been the most memorable part of high school?
A: “My friends, whether I’ve known them for long or just met them. Attending events like the students vs. staff basketball game, theater plays, football games and volunteer activities [have been the most memorable].”
Q: What advice would you give to your freshman self?
A: “I would say be more disciplined. Don’t waste your time on other things, just focus on your goals.”
Q: What are you most excited about regarding college?
A: “Making new friends is one of the most exciting things [and] creating new memories.”
Q: What would you change about your high school experience?
A: “My high school experience was mostly studying. I wish I could change that. I wish I had more fun and took more breaks here and there.”
Q: Where do you hope to see yourself in 10 years?
A: “I hope to be successful, make some money, maybe have a family and enjoy life as best as I can.”
