Inclement weather possibilities approach along with the winter time, therefore, the district has sent out a release with the list of the sources where parents and students will be notified of school cancellations.

In case of school closings due to the weather, parents will be informed through Skyalert, the district’s calling system, through all campus websites, the district’s mobile application, social networks such as Twitter (@LewisvilleISD), Facebook and Instagram as well as local news and radio stations.

The following television channels will report the decision: 4 (KDFW), 5 (KXAS), 8 (WFAA), 11 (KTVT), 23 (KUVN) and 39 (KXTX), as well as radio stations WBAP-AM (820), KWRD-FM (100.7), KHKS-FM (106.1), KLIF-AM (570), KPLX-FM (99.5), KLRD-AM (1080) and KVIL-FM (103.7).

Students are already making plans on how to spend their day off if school is cancelled.

Sophomore Irma Betanzo would “invite friends over to watch movies and hang out.”

Senior Jessica Peralta however, plans to take advantage of the free time to get ahead on her yearbook staff assignments.

“Bad weather or not, we still have deadlines.”

School closings have not been announced so far.
