Students talk to former U.S. history teacher Robert Borenstein at the senior picnic in 2019.

The annual senior picnic will take place Friday, May 17. The starting price will be $35 per person. However on Monday,  April 8, the cost will increase to $40. The picnic will be held at Circle R Ranch, FM 1171 in Flower Mound and is during the school day. Students will be back on campus by 2:30 p.m.

Students must have the permission form completed in order to pay for senior picnic. Seniors can pay in room G144 and in the school store during all lunches. Both cash and card are accepted as methods of payment. The first 600 students to pay will receive a free T-shirt with all the senior names on the back.

“It’s the best and most fun event of the year,” school service officer Lorelai Monkman-Lou said. “You get to hang out with your classmates one last time before you graduate.”

All seniors will meet in the arena at 8:30 a.m. Students must bring their cap and gown for the panoramic picture that will be taken before leaving campus. After all seniors are checked in, students will start making their way to the buses in order to head to the ranch. All students are required to ride a bus to Circle R Ranch, and students will be placed in alphabetical order by last name.

Senior picnic will offer unlimited self-service drinks and fudge brownies for dessert. For lunch they will offer barbecue as the main course. There will be various activities for students to partake in like the game room, volleyball court and dance floor.

“This is an opportunity for seniors to go have fun on the last Friday of their entire school journey from kindergarten to 12th grade,” student activities director Allison Stamey said. “It’s a day to celebrate and to be out there having fun. Everyone always ends up having a great time.”

About 580 students attended the senior picnic last year. StuCo hopes to have at least 600 students attend this year.

“It’s a good closure for senior year because it’s almost as if you’re saying goodbye without the actual goodbye,” senior Amairany Gonzalez said. “There’s no sadness involved. There’s just fun and laughter.”
