Girls’ soccer continues to work hard despite struggles

The girls soccer team [7-11 overall, 0-10 in district] plays Flower Mound on the road tonight and plans to stay positive, as the girls try to recover from a tough first half of the season.

“When you lose after so many times, over and over, you kind of put your head down,” senior Brittany Nauenburg said.

Nauenburg said the team hopes to keep up team spirit and play the next upcoming game with as much pride and good sportsmanship as possible. She said the team has worked really hard, but just hasn’t come out with the results they have wanted. She added that she hopes the team can use what it saw in the first half of the district season when it plays those teams a second time.

“It’s never easy to suffer losses like we have,” coach Erik Forrest said.

Nauenburg said last year’s team had more skill that this year’s, but didn’t play with as much dedication and heart as this year’s team has.

Junior Katie Cummins said the team’s goal needs to be continual improvement.

“We have to focus on learning the ins and outs of what we do,” Cummins said.
