Homecoming and Battle of the Axe will both happen on Friday night when the Farmers take on Marcus at Max Goldsmith Stadium.

Homecoming and Battle Of The Axe are on their way. The football game versus Marcus will be on Friday at Goldsmith Stadium and the homecoming dance will take place on Saturday.

Homecoming was set for a date in November until conflicts arose. The most convenient home football game was also homecoming week. Due to both events occurring in the same week, spirit wear for each will be mixed.

“We went back to October and the only date was Oct. 18 so it happened to be Battle of The Axe,” Student Council advisor Allison Stamey said. “We have never had that for as long as I have been here.”

Spirit days are as followed: Circus day was on Tuesday, Hawaiian day was today, Homecoming T-shirt/Black Out day is on Thursday, and Mum and Garters is on Friday.

On Monday, clubs decorated the hallways to show their pride. Students supported the volleyball team on Tuesday. Middle schoolers and younger got into the game for free.

Junior World Affairs Council’s Chalk the Walk will take place today in the Main parking lot from 3:30-5:30 p.m. On Thursday night, the homecoming parade will start in Old Town at 6 p.m.

The parade will travel east on Main St. to Mill St., head north on Mill. St, west on Church St., and end on Church and Charles. The community pep rally will begin at 7 p.m.

Before the game on Friday night, there is a tailgate party in the parking lot of Main from 4:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. There will be live music by The Grenadines, food, face painting, tattoos and pictures with Big John. After the bash, students and teachers will walk to the stadium the wait for the football game.

“[This week’s] a perfect time to show your school spirit and embrace the maroon and white,” sophomore Xena Reilly said.

Homecoming court and float winners will be introduced at halftime. To end festivities, the semi-formal homecoming dance will be on Saturday from 8 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. in the Main cafeteria. Tickets are $25 and will not be sold at the door.

“Homecoming is such an exciting time of of the year,” senior and Student Council president Samantha Martinez said. “There’s the parade, the pep rally, the game and, of course, our dance to look forward to. I’m excited for all our circus fun and enjoyment.”

Stamey said all of the festivities are focused on Friday night.

“Right now, we are just hoping to get our axe back and win the homecoming game,” Stamey said.
